It’s that time of year. You know the one where you really feel the absence of those no longer with us. Thanksgiving used to be my favorite family food holiday. My Mom and my Gram used to cook us quite a feast every year.

When Mike and I first got married, we wanted to host Thanksgiving for our families at our apartment. Mom and Dad came. Mike’s Mom and Dad came for dessert. Everyone else had their own family celebrations.

When Grandma Dunn was still alive, we used to cook Thanksgiving dinner and bring it to her house or cook it at her condo.

Now it is just us down here in Florida. Doing the whole turkey, sides, and dessert is so much. This year is going to be a challenge with me eating so much less. Not sure what we are going to do.

It is going to be a quiet Christmas as well.

I miss the fun of a family Thanksgiving and a family Christmas. I think this year we will look for other ways to enjoy the holidays.

As you get older, how do your holidays change?

Thanks for reading.
